>>1776866So you're just dumb, then? I tried to give you a way to save face but hey, not everyone can have a 3 digit IQ :(
Let's see if you can follow, probably not but worth a try.
Suppose every bike manufacturer has an incentive to outdo their rival by selling better stuff for less. Suppose the way they do this is to innovate on the high end, and eventually incorporate those advances into mid range and low end.
Now, suppose you've got 10 different technologies that existed over a 30 year time frame. Suppose 9 of those 10 followed those "trickle down" patterns (for instance, carbon fiber, wireless shifting, hydroforming, 3d printing, and so on). 1 of those 10 (Ti cassettes) stubbornly resisted this pattern.
Do you suppose it is because I, personally, a random anon on 4chan, stipulated that Ti cassettes should remain the exclusive domain of pro racers and dentists? Or is there perhaps a reason why they've remained a niche item? What, hypothetically, might need to change for Ti cassettes to trickle down finally, after decades of being left out of the mainstream by the same companies that mainstreamed all the other good stuff?
