>>1768861The curvature of the cage of that derailer is likely designed for a 50t big ring, so 46/48/50 would all likely work well.
However, those triple specific fds have a groove the middle ring is supposed to hit in to shift from middle to big. It's generally aligned for a ring ~10t smaller than the big ring. If your middle ring doesn't hit that groove, (which it might not with a much bigger outer, and therefor higher fd), then shifting will suffer, and with indexing, likely not work.
The matched ramps/pins between rings also might not align correctly with a non-matched outer chainring, exasperating poor shifting with indexing.
Lastly, it's possible, in some extreme crosschained small/small combos in your granny, the chain might drag on the fd, a total and complete non issue imo, but what the 'capacity' constraints of a fd are mostly centred around.
And you'd need a longer chain.
So imo, it likely will work, theoretically larger gaps totally work, but the more complex systems shimano triple setups have will also likely cuck you because they demand regular things. Really you gotta try it and see.
