>>1770685>I also greased the chain and the drivetrain like you guys said.Don't fucking grease the whole drivetrain, that just attracts dirt and wears stuff out. Lube the chain (with lube not grease), let it sit a few minutes to sink in, then wipe it down with a clean dry rag. Read
topnigger.ueuo.comAnd yea you can replace other drivetrain components. Chances are it's the cassette or freewheel (rear sprocket cluster) and chainrings (front sprockets) that need replacing in addition to the chain.
The cassette or freewheel is easy, they are fairly universal, you just need to know if you have a cassette or freewheel (you cannot put a freewheel on a wheel made for a cassette, and vise versa) and you need to get the same amount of cogs, and preferably the same tooth count range. It doesn't matter if your bike is from 1970, you can still easily find what you need in current production.
For chainrings, it depends, some cranksets have the chainrings permanently fixed to the crankarms in which case you need to replace the whole crankset. If your bike is old and/or low end, it's likely square taper which is very common and easy to find a replacement crankset.
Some cranksets have removable chainrings in which case you need to look at a few different specs, but again, you'll be able to find modern replacements no problem
