we are getting brand new fully custom Stadler trains from Switzerland for the network this year
turns out no one makes narrow gage stuff anymore so they even have to do the trial runs on the tracks here
They will be able to connect 3 of these units for a 180m long train with a 900 passenger seated+standing capacity at a top speed of 120km/h
Worlds most modern narrow gauge railway maybe?

Can confirm. I've ridden it from start to finish and locals do indeed use it to get the next settlement. iirc mostly teens who presumably were too young to have driving licenses.

lighter gauges like this for small LRTs instead of stupid rubber tyred shitbuckets

larger gauges for actual high speed or intercity rail, like 2m wide super thick rails or something, or at least beef up the standard gauge rails significantly

I presume because it was faster than walking or running and didn't get stuck in traffic. You can see that each end is a door, the occupant can open it up, step out, and jump down to the roadway if necessary. Looks like it might have held 2 people.

So what's the reason why most rail line gauges are as wide as they are? It'd take less materials to have a narrower gauge, but I'll hazard a guess and say that it probably has to do with weight distribution and higher speeds.
