Rental scooters are the shopping cart question all over again. They present us with a cheap, convenient and environmentally friendly mode of transport. Unfortunately, some people just have to be niggers and ruin it for everyone. People ride them indoors, on footpaths, way too fast around pedestrians etc.

Just today I was on the 2nd floor of a shopping centre and watched some faggot carry the scooter up a flight of stairs so he could ride it inside the building. Fucking murder these people

WHere I live somebody in a diesel van runs around the city all night collecting these to charge them, then puts them back. How is that environmentally friendly?
There was a study where they asked people riding these what means of transportation they would've taken if the escooter wasn't available, and only 2% would've taken the car, anybody else would've walked/biked/bus/train etc. These things are fucking retarded and another money making scheme disguised as being "eco-friendly". This shit is recycling all over again.

Because they are meant for sidewalks and bikelanes no matter what govt tells you, as riding shit on road = suicide. And I said above, careless driving is the result of rental. So fuck rental. I'd steal motors and batteries from those for sure, and let nigs recycle aluminium body and rest.

I get your point, but purely logically speaking.

Owning something that I only use 4 hours every week means its wasting away the other 164 hours. I rather get it as a service which can be much more efficient and cheaper by having x vehicles reserved for y people and properly maintained.

Reality is that rental isn't that much cheaper, because company has to make money, people are retards that break scooters, chargers have to collect them during night and charge, etc.
E-scooter is $300-400.
Rental is maybe $40 a month.
"You will own nothing" approach is more expensive and feeds leeches like landlords, rental companies, etc. Raises prices of real estate, etc.

You are right when you're talking about scooters, though I think the concept is okay for more expensive vehicles and it is still in the starting phase.
Ofcourse you should always be aware of being taken advantange off, I see people leasing washing machines and refrigerators now, that's plain stupid and you're paying more and getting less.
When it comes to cars or motor bikes I can clearly see the added value of just picking up or reserving your vehicle when you need it from a nearby plot in walking distance. There is just so much more utilization of a product that way that mostly stands around doing nothing, you're going to get lower costs if it is not exploited and monopolized.

In theory yes, but in practice car sharing rental sits up doing nothing, as you have directional flow of people.
This is kinda why rental bicycles don't work, especially ones where you have to park in specific place.

Yes, because it's the best practice! The only time when a plane is on the ground is when it has to wait for passengers or needs to be maintained. Every second it is sitting in the hangar without purpose is lost money.
Ofcourse planes and consumer goods are not really that compareable though. the difficulty is organizing and coordinating supply and demand when it is needed across regular people.

Mmm, we have some new concepts here, like there are 4 cars parked in a street and 20 people are enlisted in the service, they can make reservations and pay per hour with the more desireable hours to be more expensive.
On the whole it's working good, you only need 20% of the cars and parking space and most people who use it for groceries or who are free to schedule a doctor's visit or whatever, are flexible in their times.

Nogs steal these things then dump them in the river and all over the sidewalk. Idk, in my opinion it is better to have personal but smaller transport, gives you a bit more independence than rental service.
If let's say, airplanes, weren't so expensive to run and maintain and own, people would use shitty cessnas, over commercial jet ticket, as they would avoid all TSA shit etc.

Walking speed is anything between walking really slow to running. (let's say 3 to 15 km/h).
If you walk, you can only go, let's say 3 km, and with speed of 4 km/h.
If you use e-scoot (or well, even mechanical kick scooter), you can ride 5-10 km no problem, and with speed of 10-15 km/h. It is faster than walking, but slow enough you can jump off the thing and stop if it is needed.
Also you can try finding sidewalks nobody uses. In my town there is a road along ocean, and sidewalk of this road is used as bikelane, because cars are going 80 km/h there or more, and very few people can cycle this fast. And nobody uses sidewalk. But not everyone has a luxury of living in third world shithole where zero fucks are given about such things.

Yes, so the key is how much it costs, for a lot of people a car is expensive. Buying a plane ticket for a commercial Jet is the equivalent of buying a fare ticket for a bus or train.

Problem is that air transport is hard to replace with anything.
But car can be replaced with bicycles on short distances, and public transport for long distances. And car sharing memes kinda don't make sense inside the city, as, well, just walk lol, or bike or whatever. And outside of city, they have range limit.
