Hey does anyone know any decent tires for a road bike? I currently have these. Also, do I need to replace them already or they still have thread? The bike is a Trek Domane AL 2 disk (2019/52cm). Ideally, i want to find some tires I can also use on a 2022 Trek Checkpoint ALR 5.

if you can't see them the tyre is worn
although you can realistically just ride it until the carcass starts to get cutup and it flats a lot.

The second-hand bike I'm using almost daily now came with similar looking gatorskin tires, and looked pretty used. Decided to just see how long they'd last, thinking they'd fail in a couple rides but I've literally been riding on them for months now several times a week and they're fine. They're completely smooth like that new in the box by looks of it

Vittoria Rubino pro. $50 each. Mabye overpriced idk. Ridden them around 20 miles so far, so no idea on longevity. Feels great riding on proper tires though, my old ones were noticeably slower

Air stop is such bullshit. Last year my brother wanted to get a hybrid, but he decided to put slim tires on his rigid mtb instead. The only tubes in the nearest shop in 26x1.4 were air stop and he got punctures every couple days for two weeks, before finally ordering schwalbe tubes online. Didn't pop a single tube since.

I use the michelin lithion 2 700x25 with decathlon tubes never had a single puncture, my next tires will be the vittoria zaffiro pro btw you might want to check them out too, Here the vittoria are affordable idk in the states.

I just ordered a pair of Conti Grand Sport Race tires. They must be fairly new as I'd never heard of them before. I think its a new tier between GP5000 and Ultra Sport. Slightly lighter than Ultra Sport and has a protection layer that Ultra Sport doesn't.

I can second this opinion.
When I toured on 700 rims I exclusively used Ride Tours. They are absolutely bomb proof and give good traction and rolling resistance and they're dirt cheap to buy.
Went across Canada on them and only got three flats (all from running over roofing nails).
The only downside is that they tend to wear out at about 5000 km.

3rd, Conti Tide tour is amazing, paved roads and minor gravel, mine lasted more than 5000km though then again i swapped the rear to the front in between those distances. One downside for me is they are pretty heavy, more than twice as heavy as my gravelkings

The tubes are horrendous and the latest GP5000s tend to rip apart should you suddenly need to do a full brake maneuver. For tubes I recommend Schwalbe instead, am considering switching out the GPs for Schwalbe G One's too in the future

Can't agree with you on that, I've had a pair of contishit tubes for 3 years, they're even slightly the wrong size and have outlived two rear tyres. I've never had a puncture in that time.

I legitimately do not understand how people get punctures, I mean I carry a spare tube but it's useless because it's dried out, and I literally don't even know if my portable pump works. I'd say punctures are user error because they literally are, just don't be fat and/or retarded - but last time I said that I got banned.

Tires Competition/Races = Conti Grand Prix 5000
Tires Racing = Conti Grand Prix
Tubes = Schwalbe or Conti (i personally prefer Schwalbe)

I ride 23c tires in the city.
Works great, only times it get bumpy is when i ride on cobblestone.
The Michelin dynamic sports tires are solid, have ran over glass, rocks, potholes etc and no issue.
