Second, I think it is genetic, those with naturally higher hgb and glycogen storage are the type who excel at cycling and turn it into a lifestyle, profession even, but higher hgb leads to higher oxidation in the bloodstream which increases the natural likelihood of cancer significantly. Now, at the higher levels when doping was rampant, EPO forces a higher hgb count which is why many of those top level athletes who dope, are even more susceptible to cancer.
