Probably easier to do RU-KZ-TM-IR-PK-IN with fewer mountains.
Most of these countries already have functional railway infrastructure and there will be two breaks of gauge that could be eliminated if needed.

It's just about the most challenging rail building project you could think of short of running a tunnel under an ocean. The big problem is that the mountains on the northern side of India are some of the most active in plate-tectonic terms of anywhere in the world. It'd be far easier engineering to go through Iran or Myanmar, even though the route would be longer.
There might also be some political problems along the way.

No need. There are plans to build a canal through Iran from the Caspian Sea to the Arabian Gulf to allow ship transport directly from Russia to India. That's probably Russia's next big project once the Ukraine war is over.

It's a bad plan, but aircraft can't haul stuff nearly like trains can. Hell, some have issues traversing the Himalayas even today.
