I heard some random vlogger claim that changing out the saddle on a bike for women for a regular saddle doesn't make any sense, he didn't explain why at all though. So why is this a bad idea?

Saddles are more or less the same for men and women and most of the time aren't marketed as for men or women. Main difference is women tend to need wider sizes, but if what's already there is comfy then no point in changing it.

Apparently the frame dimensions also have something to do with the designation for men and women

My current main bike is designated as a woman's bike too and i've had one dude who seems to be knowledgeable on bikes even comment on it, but by changing the saddle and couple of other things it would look like any other stepthrough bike really

a women's saddle typically has a shorter nose and is slightly wider at the sit bone area, that's it. if you're talking about riding a women's bike as a man, there's not much difference really. mostly just girl colors and a more sloping top tube or whatever. sometimes geo is slightly altered, but its usually just paint and marketing.

lmao every child knows how to distinguish a woman's bike from a man's bike at a glance. Women's bikes have fucked up frames to accommodate skirts.

Ah i see, that actually does make sense

Them being heavier is definitely noticable but it somehow adds stability too, hard to describe really

I think some stepthrus can be designated as genuinely unisex too, radpowerbikes ones for example
