Femur injuries are not uncommon and just because it's the strongest bone doesn't mean it can't break. I know two people who have broken their femurs in the past 5 years and neither sustained any other serious injury. Also have you ever heard of a helmet? They're this cool thing used to prevent catastrophic brain injuries in bike accidents.
