Quebec has an election this year and I'm planning to contact the MNAs running for the CAQ in Vachon, Chambly, Rouville and Granby to try and get the rail line rebuilt and given Exo service along the old Montreal and Southern Counties Railway as seen in pic related. My main arguments will boil down to the fact that the government owns the land east of East Greenfield (was bought when the owners tore it up for scrap and turned into a bike path), the fact that Exo already has service contracts with CP along the remaining part of the line for the Mont-Saint-Hilaire line, the cost of rebuilding the line likely being around a quarter billion (meaning even Candiac line level use would justify the expense) so it'll almost certainly have use at levels justifying the cost, and any new rail build would be owned by Exo similar to the Saint-Jérôme extension. Given the fact the CAQ is very supportive of transit, especially in districts that support them (all of which are very heavily CAQ supporters along this line) given they tried to get the CDPQ to build a REM extension to Chambly which was rejected, but I don't think these arguments are enough to convince them to make this an election issue so I'm wondering if there's any more convincing arguments that could be made for this. Any ideas for more points that could be used as selling points for this?
