well, there are 2 main types of gravel goofs
- cutoff shorts, steel bike, loads of shit dangling off (somewhat) locally made bags, probably loves weed, either rides a lot of really gnarly shit or barely rides at all. probably has a "cool" job and a reddit account
this guy will sometimes wear bibs and a woollen t-shirt
- carbon (fork at the very least) rapha kit groadie with a tiny burrito handlebar bag who does big distances but doesn't get very rowdy. carries robot food and bags are probably all apidura. probably has a high paying corporate job
this guy is always wearing lycra all the time
the mtb baggies gravel outfit is pretty uncommon
they both like patagonia clothes also

My favorite unracer moment was on a commute some years ago when I was waiting to pass a lady with some unraced as fuck canvas panniers. She hit a bump, the same bump I'd been taking at higher speeds for years and years with zero issue, and her panniers launched into the air and crashed. I didn't tell her she should have gotten ortliebs and tubus, because she probably already knew. I just said are you ok and she looked embarrassed and waved me on.
