>>1788699It's still primarily a JSDF base with a USAF tenant unit. The gate guards and ATC are Japanese. That's how every overseas US base works, the host nation still technically has the say about whether or not they allow US military operations there. Obviously it wouldn't be in their best interests to just tell the US to fuck off, but the option is always there.
