TIre blowout like 20-something, maybe 30 miles from home. Went through several tire boots and like 5 tubes on the way home and still had to walk the very last bit (luckily I had like 6 new tubes with me)

tubes, tire levers, multitool, adjustable wrench, zip ties, master link, pump, clif bars, water, water filter, extra lights, extra clothes

One summer I kept coming across 2 cars in secluded areas outside the city parked in a way that the drivers could talk to each other. Always different places, presumably different people. Happened about 6 times, I'd wonder if I rolled up on a drug deal or some shit.

mtb spds are the best of both worlds. almost as good as "proper" roadie pedals, but the shoes walk pretty well, I could easily walk 3 miles in my giro mtb shoes

I once bounced off of a rock into a bunch of brambles
I had to get out of them by myself, pushing into the brambles to stand up. I think I still have some thorns inside my hands.

I once desperately had to shit while out on a ride and there wasn't a single building as far as I could see so I just rolled off the road and got shittin, and a truck drove by in the middle of it. They didn't say anything, but the driver made eye contact with me while I was wiping my ass with leaves, and that was real awkward. I don't ride out that way anymore

When I lived out in NM, there was some kind of spiky plants, but there's some kind of grass that the tip breaks off into your skin, then it swells up from your skin moisture. Impossible to get out with just your fingers.
So I asked at a local shop, and they recommended these miniature tweezers (Uncle Bill's Silver Grippers) and carrying a sewing pin (stick the pointy bit into a foam ear plug). Picking out thorns always sucks, but having the right tools at least makes it faster.
