>>1797368>experience riding with cycling messenger bagsYeah, since 2013. I moved to Columbus, and there used to be a company there called Seagull that made bags.
That style used a continuous strap with a roller buckle (pic). There's no quick way to break the strap in the middle (trident buckle, seatbelt buckle, etc), but adjusting the length is effortless.
They are very usable while riding. Pull up on the roller buckle to loosen the strap a bit, swing the bag around, ... when you're done, swing it back most of the way, bump it w/ your elbow, and pull the main strap to cinch it up. It's second nature after a day or so.
I didn't care for the side stabilizer strap, or a padded shoulder strap. When it's hot out, the pad traps heat & sweat. And 2" seatbelt is fine over the collar bone.
I'm satisfied with pretty minimal features, but two conveniences I used to see a lot where cell phone holsters (near the shoulder), and suitcase style handles on the main flap (place to strap a helmet, or just for moving the bag around when not wearing it).
