Any rowers on /n/? I haven't been in a boat since high school but I'm thinking about joining a local club to mix up my cycling training. Drop race reports, coxswain stories, and sweet pics below.

cycling is transportation. road cycling blurs the line to some extent but the equipment and concepts can be used to get improve efficiency for transportation purposes as well.

I wish I could join some rowing team. 3 major problems

1 I live far from the sea
2 the nearest team accepts young kids and teens only. Adults you either a pro or you can't join
3 I can swim like shit

That's a big problem in the US, in general. Having fun is considered something only for kids.

You should solve this. Just as walking is core /n/, so is swimming. I'd consider learning all four swim strokes to be a higher priority than rowing. Even if you live far from a sea, other bodies of water exist.

If you're after being on the water rather than being part of a machine try kayaking clubs. There's a big older, social contingent but also the super fit surf ski crowd (though idk about this if you're not by the ocean) so there's a reasonable chance you can find a group that's the intensity you want.
