think about some old guy in a country village who makes amazing bread in a wood fire oven thats just how he learnt to do it and how he does it but he hasn't rejected electric ovens he just doesn't have one and he doesn't care about people who buy bread from the supermarket he either doesn't think about that or respects the ease they have.
A city person, probably running a buisiness, imitating him would have this whole cultural spiel about the 'authenticity' of the process and probably be deeply snobby about what they aren't doing but that person is not authentic, they are not doing what is natural/normal for them, which is not bad but they are going against the grain the man in the village is going with the grain that is what being authentic is, and his authenticity is not defined by other people who are doing it wrong.
I would argue that some kid following fixie trends is more authentic than someone who thinks they originated it.
