It's great but navigation is a huge issue. Most of the signage uses overground building name' rather than Streets & Subway Stations. Not many people know that ScotiaPlaza is on King Street without looking at the map, which is also difficult to find. I think that's changed now, but I'm not sure. I haven't been in PATH since the pandemic started.

Toronto usually has mild winters, but there are days/weeks when the temperature drops to -20°C, or a winter storm drops by. It's nothing compared to the weather in Northern Ontario, Alberta & Quebec.

I've only been to Chicago a couple times but I would say yes (the city is more livable in general) including the weather.

You definitely will want AC. When I was a broke student and summer hit it was usually not that bad but there are a few days per year where you need to sleep naked with the windows open and a fan going.

I've lived both places. They're pretty similar climate-wise. Chicago has more very hot days, but Toronto is colder for the winter on average. It's not dramatic enough where I wouldn't pool them into the same climate zone though, it's that typical Great Lakes winter.

you can walk from 10 Dundas to Union Station in roughly 15-20 minutes
useful if you're a Ryerson student who commutes using the GO Train and it's either summer or winter
I don't know why you'd want to "explore" it because it's just a giant shopping mall it's not like there are any secret passageways in it

I went to Houston's, it was alright but you had to use a map to get around.
Pros:
>no hobos
>didn't have to deal with the heat & humidity
>didn't have to cross any streets
>didn't have to deal with the light rail
>lots of restaurants
>network is basically a maze of twisty little passages, all alike

Cons:
>no consistent system, every section has its own map that has no bearing on directions or getting around to other parts
>entire retail mix is almost exclusively restaurant-focused save for the occasional service-oriented business and drugstore
>connects to office, residential, and hotels but no useful retail--the closest downtown grocery store is not part of the network and an even closer specialty store is not either
>heavily tied to downtown pedestrian traffic, meaning by 5pm everything is shut down
>network is basically a maze of twisty little passages, all alike

You'd be surprised, from the time or two I've been there, it seems like every part of the tunnel network is controlled by whatever building is on top of it. And their security seems to keep the riffraff out.
