Aircraft have very high maintenance standards to ensure safety, theyre inspected once yearly and every 100 hours (if you're renting or at a flight school) and pretty frequent oil changes (usually every 50 hours) there is recommended times to replace certain parts etc.
There's a lot more space in the sky than on the road. And a lot less retards there too. As a flight student you will also be practicing emergency procedures for a lot of your training so you will be prepared.
Dont let your parents hold you back from that just call up a place and get a discovery flight before you enroll in a school
