Well, that depends. If you're making a one-off short trip with a rented trailer, and your load isn't obviously unsafe, I doubt you've much to worry about unless the cop has had a seriously bad day. Things get a little murky if it's a trailer you own and/or you're clearly transporting goods 'for hire or reward', where you can't hide behind being stupid/ignorant.
Just make sure you're not posing a clear, obvious danger to yourself or others (stuff falling out of the trailer, sparks flying from overloaded axles etc) and you'll be fine.
