>>1820026>>1820028>>1820029>>1820077So, I went to an independent bike shop and asked them to assist me.
They told me they had 0 capacity to leave it in, but that if a derailleur hanger is bent "it must be replaced - it is not repairable".
They then proceeded to ask me if it was ok to leave the bike in with them for a week, so they could work out if the drivetrain is damaged and "must be replaced".
I left and rode off on my clicking bike... I went to a Decathlon not far away. The polite bike workshop guy there said it would be an easy task and completed it right away. He said it would be done in 10-15 minutes, but it took him 5... Derailleur hanger aligned, tested and tyre pressures checked.
I'll probably buy a spare derailleur hanger soon and I'll keep it next to the multitool in the saddle pouch.
I want to support local shops, but it's not easy when local shops either tell you to fuck off or they tell you that they'll take a week to look at it and that they're going to consider replacing components "that'll need ordering in". Why the fuck are small independent bike shops run by crusty old boomers who try to extract as much cash out of you? I hate to hand over money to big-corpo... But big corpo at least got the job done, quickly and cheaply.
Also, the small bike shop had an alright looking hybrid bike with V brakes and a 1x7 Shimano Tourney groupset, on "sale" for £660. I could get a Kona Dew with hydraulic brakes and a 1x11 drivetrain for the same fucking price.
