i haven't had a bike accident in absolutely years, knock on wood, but i don't take anywhere near the risks i see other cyclists on the road take. saw a motorist blind turn on one of my earlier rides either without checking his shoulder or not caring that the roadie in front of me was about a second away from getting hit by him so that was cool of him. when i was younger i had one or two close encounters and made a few braindead retard tier mistakes but i learned not to be a fucking idiot fast whilst riding on roads and next to or behind other people. never fallen using clipless pedals either and it's going to stay that way.

when i was a kid i was speeding down the road to school and the very end of my handlebar clipped a real estate sign, causing my front wheel to instantly turn 90 degrees sideways and launch me flying down the sidewalk

but because i was in school it was actually cooler to show up with a bloody arm

one time on my way to school i was riding along this retaining wall that got higher as the sidewalk got lower. i didn't have the skills to pull my front wheel high enough when it came time to get off so i faceplanted. it wasn't very painful but people were freaking out when i got to school because of all the blood. i got some stitches and the day off school so that was neat.
