Are the holes on the back half of the clamp blind holes or thru holes?
If they are thru holes, file a flat on the side of a another bolt and thread it in from the rear. This is a destructive operation, and will take some force; it won't be "normal", but you'll no longer have misaligned threads near the start of the hole.
If they're blind holes, can you make them into thru holes? Then you could drill out the remaining thread and use a longer bolt with a nut on the rear.
Is the back side of the clamp curved or machined flat? If it's curved, you could either shape/file the nut to mate to the curve, or do the same with a standoff/aluminum spacer. Or maybe use a set of spherical washers if the curve is gentle enough.
If you have the right drills & taps, maybe you could go the next size up. There is almost certainly material for M5 -> M6, but M6 -> M8?
