>>1833593>they won't lol, they'll change literally nothing for 10 years and in 2032 until it's a catastrophetrue!
CA government recognized that were oveusing our water supply for water intensive crops many years ago. in only 150 years we have pumped the san joquin aquifer more than half dry, that aquifer took tens of thousands of years to form.... 100's of thousands of years?
in 2014 they started drafting rules to put limits on how much water a farmer could pump out of the finite underground water supply.
well in the mean time they put limits on how much river water could be diverted, so in the following years farmer started pumping out massive amounts of ground water to compensate... only in 2021 did they finally enact these limits on ground water pumping and now theres a ton of dead almond orchirds, yay!
every year they flood hundreds of square miles of crops with water in a fucking desert... multiple times
but why cant they have more efficient watering? becuase it woud be too labor intensive, god forbid we have more meaningful jobs out here instead of having people work at a chik fil a drive thru. they say it takes 2 farmers to grow the amount of food it took 100 farmers to grow 100 years ago but we cant have water sustainable irrigation becuase it wold be too (labor) expensive. bubba needs a big truck or else all the other farmers will think he is a poor fag
