i used to ride a ninja. Yes its fun, anyone saying otherwise is tripping. Sold mine for a road bike and haven't regretted it once.

Cycling has a really beautiful rhythm. I can't fully explain it. It's like a constant reminder of some deep truth. You suffer uphill, you get the joy of speed on the downhill. You maintain the parts, they serve you, they eventually die, you swap them out. You only get places by willpower and effort. It's a little like that Hindu practice of meditating on a visual of your dead body decaying. Motorbike rides were often an escape from reality for me. I would never call cycling escapism, but it's always fun.

Motos are not heavier bicycles with an engine, they behave way differently than bicycles, something like cold dry weather is a non issue for a bicycle while for a moto it can be a killer. Most dangerous form of transport and highly unpractical if you want to have the minimum crash protection to avoid leg and hand amputations - heavy gloves and boots in all weathers toghether with a helmet is a minimum few check. Low speed corner 20 khm crash on a motorcycle can crush your feet while on a bicycle its mostly lighter injuries since they weight 20x then a bicycle.

Moto slicks have horrible grip offroad unlike bicycle slicks btw.

not saying that isnt the case, but serious leg injuries are way more common on motorcycles than on bicycles

Depends where you are, there are deals everywhere. that pic is from Croatia isnt it? Here deals arent the best but you can find some if you follow, also for city riding burgman seems too big, beverly is the best choice for a maxi scooter imo

Don't like em. Compromise between bicycles and cars in exactly the wrong way, need license and registration and insurance, can only go in traffic on roads, still exposed to the elements, usually unnecessarily loud, entire cities relying on them are choking on smog. Electric scooters seem to make a lot more sense on a mass transport scale. If I ever have a place with a garage and prices go down some more I might buy an electric motorcycle for weekend fun rides. Other than that motorcycles can go fuck themselves.

Here you go, if you want to go scoot scoot route, I suggest getting an A license just because 50cc are total shite and highly dangerous, you are the slowest and are not a bicycle so the danger is great and those shits are way less stable at any speed compared to a bicycle. Best choice by far is Piaggio Beverly 150-300 depending on the budget but or any 150cc just not 50cc for your own safety and overall quality - majority of crashes from nothing happen on 50cc. Be aware of scoot danger compared to a bicycle >>1827904, they are not safe and the only reason people dont use full gear on them is discomfort. Its not only scoots, any motorcycle on the road is miles more dangerous than a bicycle, Im not sure could I recommend it for commuting, many moto enthusisast never commute on scoots or motos since love for life.

That being said, testing some 50cc is a good way of knowing is it for you but it highly depends on the area can you do that safely. I made my choice - life is precious.

Somewhat related. I remember an anon posting about pic related a few weeks ago and got me really interested about making my own but today I found out that they're almost definitely illegal in my cunt. I'll call my insurance agent tomorrow to confirm but feeling pretty disappointed.

Boardtrackers are the 1900s equivalent of track bikes. Literally, board trackers were meant for velodrome use only, hence the name board trackers. Velodromes are tracks made from wooden boards.

that is also true, but many experienced guys who rode 600cc+ motorcycles for years fallen in city riding on a 50cc scooter from nowhere simply due to inherided design of them, they are such weird to ride compared to a bicycle and such weird center of gravity.

Even if that isnt the issue for you and you can safely work around it you have to keep in mind that rest of traffic i.e. cagers and truck drivers DO NOT SEE YOU so you have to learn defensive and secure riding which takes years to do properly (think moto cops) and there is no option even on a 50cc scoot to jump curbs and ride on the walking path if it gets dicey. 50cc is only good in controlled areas to see if its for you like villages with small traffic etc.

talked to them and wanted to go for A category and commute on a bicycle with internal combustion moto lyfe etc since I hate caging as well but messed myself up on a 50cc due to few parts of gravel on the turn that would do nothing to a bicycle with slicks (Im okay now). Not for me, commuting on motos or scoots even if you know how to drive is just dicey dicey dicey - commuting on them in hot weather only is not safe but good risk management.

Tomos? I live in a fairly hilly area so a 50cc isn't that realistic for me anyway. And yeah horror stories and shit like that webm you posted kept me from a motorcycle so far in life. I guess a pseudolegal custom ebike is the path to go for.

There is nothing wrong with 50cc handling. I have ridden bikes over 1000cc and 50cc bikes. The problem is 50cc can barely keep up with other motorized traffic (~150cc is good) and often are shitty in other ways. If an "experienced" rider fell for no reason on a 50cc rider, they weren't an experienced rider, they were just a moron that bought a bigger motorcycle than they could handle (they should have stuck to 25cc).

I've never bought one because I never learned to ride one as a young boy (my dad didnt ride motorcycles) and everyone I knew who bought one as a teenager or young adult crashed with serious injuries. One of my friends lost both his legs in a Ninja accident.
