only problem I have with wide handlebars is people cruising around the city with them and not realizing how fucking wide they are on narrow bike paths

I had some trash bars sawn off to 490 mm in my trash bucket, put them on my bike as a placeholder. Still riding them 3 years later. Narrow flat bars are great.

Ever seen how a cat reacts to his whiskers too narrow than normal? As anon says, if tards today are riding 820 mm bars then they are essentially riding bars far wider than their shoulders along with reducing turn angle and have to compensate by leaning in opposite the turn to get the extra angle where as good ol' 600 mm bars you have full useful range of motion without changing rider position.

Indulge me oh MTB guys for I am a roadie. We have a pretty easy rule: Try to keep the bars as wide as your shoulders.

I grew up in the 90s riding mtbs with flat narrow bars. I can totally see the utility of a slight rise in the bar. But WHY would you want a wide set of handlebars. Seems like you'd go down a forest downhill trail clip a treetrunk and go flying.

Please advise.

Consindering all mountain bike trails are now jump trails that can be taken with BMX bikes the wide bars are good. No one rides tight slow trails anymore.
