I got a 220€ Decathlon mountain bike I bought >5 years ago when I was a student and by old city bike just got stolen. In the meantime, I've spent about that same amount of repairs and replacement.
Is it the best bike? No, but it's my bike and it rides like it should.
Thing is, I just want to completely overhaul it. How much is too much? I already have a touring e-bike my work now paid for, but I only really use it for long-distance rides.
I'm not electrifying it, but everything from better wheels, better drivetrain and gears, new seat, GPS-tracker for insurance, and repainting.
Basically, replace and improve everything but the frame. And do it all myself, for learning purposes.
Has anyone does this before? Is it worth it or will the frame just give out before I will? Except for sentimental values, obviously.
