Since I watched as my subway system didn't even stop fare evaders during covid when the station was empty I do one of three things now
>wait around for a fare gate to get stuck open, then pretend to swipe my card while going thru it

>actually pay at my home station, get off at the next one and swipe out but don't leave to pay minimal fare and then go to my destination station and do one of the above
