Curious that you know what one part is, but not the other. The black bits are brake extensions, for when your hands are on the 'abomination' parts of the bars. Basically these things >>1837257, but flipped L/R and mounted to the outsides.

What do you want to know? They're Madden brand panniers from the 1980's. I bought them 2nd hand at a swap meet a long time ago. They're the simplest possible front panniers you can imagine, one compartment, no waterproofing, and they use hooks and bungee cords for retention - which is nice and simple but has the disadvantage that they can be launched into orbit if you hop up a curb too aggressively. If you're really interested I can get you some pictures of them, I still have them around although I haven't used them in years (except as handy storage containers in my garage) as I have better panniers that are both bigger and don't fly off my bikes...

I'll get some pictures for you tomorrow in the daylight. As for the rack, I don't have that one anymore. It was actually a rack intended for front mounting that I just used on the rear anyways. Nothing special, just an 80s or 90's era touring rack.

I combined Guidonet style brake levers with a Nitto bullhorn bar. Looks odd but works great, I now don't have to change my grip in order to break

I like it, and I like the fact that no fucks are given following the trends of typical handlebars.
I also love twist shifters, they are great. I had Gripshifts on a bike of mine, but sold it some time ago. Was thinking of building an all purpose cheap bike with them again.
How do you make brifters and levers work at the same time?

Technically you can have brake levers on the same brifter line. It's called a safety brake, and it works not by pulling the cable, but by "elongating" the cable housing past the safety brake lever (see pic related).

What we were wondering is what setup he has to be able to use two levers on two different lines.

laziness, after putting new wheels on the bike worked just perfect, shifts smooth and crisp like a swiss watch and the wheel stay feels great, so I never really fumbled around with the dropout adjuster screws.

that doesn't make any sense. if he wanted to save weight, he'd have the axle all the way back in the dropout so he could remove the adjustable screws. there's no way shifting the axle anywhere else in the dropout could affect weight.
how are you arriving at this conclusion?

Shifting the axle forward lets you shorten the chain by a link which saves at least 2 GRAMS.

Here you go anon. The 4th picture has the nylon tucked back/down so you can see the stiffener and construction. The leather tabs with buttons are so that you can snap a pair of these together into a single unit for easy carrying.

You get the best shifting when the centurion wheel lines up closest c-c with the cogset. Which is usually with the wheel slammed forward.

Having a tight wheelbase also makes the bike handle more crit-like which is pretty fun.

Back will be comfier and more boaty/toury/stable and obviously you get more tire clearance. But it does degrade shifting.

on a threadless headset, you could stack two stems with different bars assuming the steerer tube is long enough.

Just do both (remove chain link and adjuster screw) and get the qr to clamp really tight for max savings.

He certainly meant 'Centeron'. The upper/guide pulley on Shimano rear derailers used to have that word printed on it. Their branding for the slightly too wide bush that let the pulley scoot side to side a little.

Stanchions have to be hollow on suspension forks, that's where a damper, spring, or the pneumatic bits go depending on the fork. Looks like there's either something missing in that picture, or there's a damper lower down and the stanchion ought to have a cap over it.

That's what I was thinking. There should be some kind of cap to contain the suspension element.
PS if you look at 2022 CDM forks, how many truss forks are there? If there was a hollow (lightweight) way to do suspension, I guess it would be on all road bikes...
