Does your area offer any sort of secure bicycle parking that you utilize? Usually it is provided at subway stations and other similar transit stations, some sort of locking cages. And do you utilize it?

my local metro has something similar
it costs the same to park your bike than it does to ride the subway
so of course I don't use it

Yes, they recently added a bike locker at Kipling Station in Toronto. You have to reserve the locker for a few months and pay a fee. You get a key, and store your bike there. It's pretty good, and with the recently updated Dundas St W & Bloor St W bike lanes, the lockers compliment the infrastructure well.

My area has key card activated individual bike lockers at all the subway stations, train stations, etc. Secure metal locking cabinets. Costs around 5 cents an hour. Third party company.

However at my home subway station I purchased the subway's own bike lockers. $30 deposit for an entire year, individual key locker, can store anything in it. Can store bike overnight, store accessories, anything inside it. Absolutely rules.

how the fuck is that possible? my subway station's car parking is $3/day. their bike locker is $30 year, averages $2.50/month or 8.22 cents/day. the "expensive" option of the electronic locker is 5 cents/hour.

That's a retarded system. Reserving the locker so it stays empty most of the time.
Also there's got to be a better system than locking the bike in a steel box.
Like an industrial bike rack with heavy duty locking mechanisms.

You would have to rebuild parts of Kipling Station in order to have a proper bike rack that's shielded from the outdoor elements. The TTC is already anemic when it comes to cash, because the city nor the province wishes to properly fund them; they can barely construct elevators because they're poor as fuck. Metrolinx completed the Kipling Hub project last year, and they neglected to install a bike rack room, because the Milton GO line only runs on weekdays during rush hour. (they don't own the tracks)

What exactly is wrong with a steel locking box? That's what the $30 yearly locker I have is. No one can see inside it and it's extremely safe, you can't even see what's inside. And yeah sometimes I store things besides the bike. Nothing big, but just like a backpack, or some extra clothes, or something like that.

Exactly, it's a very convenient locker to stre your bike and other things that may or may not be related to your bike, such as a spare raincoat, helmet, shopping bags, etc.

Not him, but seems a bit overkill, specially if you're gonna get a steel box reserved only for you. Imagine how escalating that service would be a nightmare of steel boxes piling up by the side of a subway station and how that would impact the architecture and the whole flow of people, it's totally unfeasible.
