I grew up in the suburbs so I'm obviously biased, but I really don't get why everyone has a hard-on for walkable cities now. I don't want to be greeted with crowds of strangers whenever I go out to do anything, I dislike the lack of privacy and constant claustrophobia that I get when I visit some trendy bike filled narrow street city center, it's just the absolute worst. Do people not appreciate being able to step outside and have it be totally quiet, or being able to get from A to B fast without complications, is it all just a massive environmentalism thing, or poor people who can't afford cars and are trying to cope, or just bikers who want lanes for their hobby? Absolutely perplexed.
