>>1842248Shop racing teams I'm aware of are linked to LBS that refuse to help you with your bike if you didn't buy it from them, cuz muh warranty.
>>1842252I was given a bike with a top tube - still was an 8 speed Shimano Nexus Gazelle bike. Fairly heavy, but I managed to sprint it to 36 km/h. I didn't bring my road bike, because Ryanair charges €120 return for a bicycle. Figured it'd be easier to just bring clipless pedals and a multitool, and just run one of those Dutch bikes clipless for the shits and giggles.
Anyway, my own road bike is Force 22, and I can easily overtake most non-freds on the roads, though usually because the non-freds are riding MTBs on the roads.
>>1842261I'm 26. I've been touching grass a lot more lately. Trying to actually bloom for a change. But even if I find someone my own age who rides a bike, it's someone who rides an e-bike, or even an e-MTB.
>>1842355I happen to have an online turned irl friend who I kinda pulled into road cycling. As I mentioned, this is someone I did some riding with in the Netherlands. In September, I'll be visiting Scotland, and I guess we'll do some rides together. Thankfully, I'll be taking the ferry and train, so I get to take my road bike over for only £20 return, but a 6 hour journey. Fuck the airlines...
>>1842362There was a Critical Mass in a city 2 and a half hours away by train not long ago. The newspapers went nuts over how it's "radical cycling ideology" and how the government should ban Critical Mass. I think it's been associated with Extinction Rebellion lately, and of course, that riles up the boomers.
Since I'm not clued in on environmentalist protests, I don't know when the next one will happen locally.
