Anybody else think Manhattan needs more bike lanes?
I think the one-way avenues need one bike lane on either side, going in each direction.
There are some avenues without bike lanes and it makes it super annoying if you're doing a north/south trip. Especially when you combine that with the fact that most side streets are one way, it makes a lot of trips unnecessarily difficult.
Given how dense Manhattan is, there's no rationale for cars taking up 90% of the street space. When I'm in the bike lane I can clearly see more people moving in the bike lane than in the car lanes.
Optimally we would have a 2-way bike lane on each side of the street.
