as with anything, the universal rule is as center of gravity increases, balance decreases.
that's a free improvement you can do in a few minutes. if the mount can't be configured to go low just above the wheel (try flipping it) get one that does. a saddle that fits you can be had without spending a lot. that'll get you something functional despite being a low end bike. front and rear racks are also good and give the option of side mounting bags ("panniers") that both increase volume while furthering stability.
