Hi, I am looking to buy an ebike to go to work(14Kms) I am looking for an electric bike since I have a knee injury and have a hard time riding up the slope. Something cheap(below 1500 euros), given the rate of robberies in Paris and I wouldn't use it over 2 years.
Do you have any models or sales in mind and what do you think about second hand stuff, like Leboncoin?

Why don't you just take the metro or rer? In europe the public transportation is so much better than in america (ugh america). That is why there are no cagetrolls anywhere in europe. I wish I was a sophisticated european.

This is why I am on the fence on most pre-built bikes. I just want a mid drive e bike that wont cost me more than $2k

I would but Bafang BBSHD + not shit battery is already gearing up to $1200.
I want to be able to carry a passenger so frame wont be cheap, and adding up everything else its surely north of 2K

I want the best but I'm not willing to pay for even something that is one step down even though I have no experience riding one...oh yeah I also won't pay the asking price.

You're mostly asking for too much from that much money. Here's what you can do
1.
accept the fact that you can only get a 750w hub from a prebuilt. You don't NEED a 1000w mid drive. Mid drive is like getting a sports car or one of those huge trucks with a retarded amount of horsepower in it. A hub will still get you up to speed especially is you just put some leg power into it. You can get a Radwagon 4 or a blix paka.
2. If you go with a 48v bs02 instead you can get a 20ah battery for about $800 total and you can put it on this bike:

Eh, I thought I'd need a middrive but I got a Radmini and it's great. You can upgrade the Rad bikes really easy too, can make em go faster with better controllers and motors. Just get a rad bike, stop wasting time not riding.

Second hand is tricky because you have no way to tell if the battery is fucked. If it's for paved surfaces, I'd simply get one from lidl or aldi, their ebikes should be more than good enough for commuting. You just need to make sure the motor and the battery aren't complete shit, and maybe take it to your LBS for a quick checkup if it came pre-assembled.

Alright, alright thanks for spoonfeeding me. I will consider buying a prebuilt with hubs motors.
I have the tools so I could actually build one by buying parts off Alibaba but that will take longer than I want to.

You wont save any money and if you fuck it up you've fucked up the whole thing. But it prebuilt from a real place.

you said yourself you are looking for an ebike for a 10 mile commute. That's literally any ebike out there no matter how shitty. You really turned off this thread when we suggested the best selling Ebike in the USA and you turned your nose up.

Just go to halfords and buy one.
