I like night trains. You get on, go to sleep to the rocking of the train, and wake up somewhere else. I missed taking night trains, but I'm taking one soon and looking forward to it.

Soviet-style open floor couchettes are more comfy, worst ones are the modern Chinese couchettes with semi-closed compartments that feel absolutely claustrophobic.

I only know the classic european-type sleepers with the 6-berth and 4-berth compartments, and some more modern fancy ones with 2 berth cabin with private bathroom and shower. That one was awesome.

the train I rode had cabins with 4 bed, they were not very comfy, but I was alone in the cabin so I was happy. One of the beds had an ugly stain.

Travelled all around Europe on trains from Moscow to barcelona during the 2010s.
Best sleepers have been Russian and German (including Austrian and Swiss).
I'm now living in Canada and I must say it's stone age here in terms of rail transport.

I always wanted to travel to Russia by sleeper, but now they're all suspended and who knows if and when they ever run again. Afaik they had just gotten Talgo trainsets with variable gauge.
I did take a sleeper in Russia though, from Moscow to St Petersburg. One thing I noticed is that it didn't have a ladder for getting into the upper berth, so it required quite a bit of climbing. Als there was a Samovar at the end of the car. Good times.

You can still go to Russia by train if you don't mind taking a bus between Terespol and Brest.
The Strizh Talgos were okay, ride one Talgo and you have rode them all. The rolling regauging process is technically impressive but as a passenger you won't really get to see anything.

I don't think anybody knows yet. The example posted is probably the first off the assembly line, and isn't planned to enter service for another year. I'd guess that perhaps the pods will be the 'cheap' option and the compartments will be for group bookings - families and so on - given how they seem to have access to an ensuite washroom, which the pods won't have.

You're confusing sleepers and couchettes.
The pods are couchette class, just as couchette compartments where you are expected to share the space with strangers and sleep more or less in street clothes.
The compartments with included facilities are the more expensive sleepers that used to be sold to one party per compartment, so you would change into sleep wear in your personal space.

There also was a train that doesn't need to change the gauge or something. They launched it a couple of years ago but now it's obviously cancelled.
If you want to ride some Russian trains you could always just fly in and take a sleeper to St Peteresburg, Kazan or whererver bascially.
I believe most of the European part is served by the new sleepers now.
