Sometimes it can be comfortable or cheaper to have the possibility to use a cage, but never a requirement. Especially if you live in a city where distances are manageable in a multitude of ways modes of transport. The economic/environmentalists trend will also result in a move away from cages in the next few decades so if you don't need a cage now, chances are you'll need it even less in the future.

Same here, but I live in a place I can't travel to some places without a cage and I fucking hate it. The second I can move out of here I'm taking it. Ignore any n/o/gs that post, just look into bus routes and trains for anything longer distance. Some places you can make it work.

Unless you killed the guy on the bike I don't see how that would mentally effect you.

Like any tool, when used improperly or by someone lacking training/ability, cars can be dangerous.
If that is you, I won't judge you - just use a different method of transportation.
They are not 'death machines' because you can't use them properly.
