I just put this front rack on my commuter. it cost like 6 euros and weighs 350g with 5kg max load. Probably need to buy like a 15 euro basket to it now from Granit. It should be enough to carry a set of change clothes and my lunch to work, as well as gym stuff. I can't really use it for groceries, probably need to build a bike specific to carry heavier loads.
The steering kinda sucks with load, but I can deal with it. I would rather put a rear rack because of aerodynamics, but front rack seems to be the cooler option right now atleast for old mountain bikes. For next summer when weather is warm and I will ride faster again, I will probably put it back to rear.
