Somehow I lucked out and got interviews for both Amtrak and Washington Metrorail to drive their trains. Both of these agencies have their ups and downs. Amtrak has better pay but risks of layoffs/furloughs and never being home. Metro has lower pay but guaranteed to be home every night and the agency has the usual public transit issues of funding, mismanagement and crazies on the train.

I know going into both positions that I will have no life but this is what I get for wanting to drive a train.
