Those buildings don't exist today because they burned down in the 1910s and 20s. When the Eisenhower interstate came through town they knocked down the slums.
They kept 5th street north to the river. Of course you can walk over one of many pedestrian bridges to get to 529 main. That's part of the River Market Antiques complex. There's a farmer's market north of there.
Behind the photog in the new shot in the Main KCMO library which has a facade that looks like a book case (8th street), the old jewish garment district (quality hill), the main downtown, the tmobile center, crown center, etc.
I never much cared for the River Market area. It's fake. Used to be rough- the River Quay and run by the mob and it had peeler bars and people would end up shot up in the trunks of cars that crossed the mob. Got a handjob at 15 from a peep show at the Old Chelsea Too.
Point is, photographs are deceptive.
