First time on a road bike, my house is surrounded by hills and I'm not sure if I can have decently long runs (I'd want to go too longer than picrel). Should I ask for a refund or am I just untrained? I'll post elevation

Unironically how? When you bought it did it come with the chain in the lowest gear and you never figured out how to change it?

shift to a easy to pedal gear when going up hills, then shift even one more. Now tonight when you ride only be in that gear.

Road bikes arent like town bikes or bmx or mtb. You get maximum efficiency if you are always moving your legs.

So do a ride where you are always moving your legs at 90 rpm.

Whenever I take an extended break from cycling the firsts few rides are always super difficult and I’m slow and huffing and puffing, and then I’m mostly back to normal after those first few rides. Try to aim for more time cycling than actual intensity. Like 45-60 minutes a day atleast every of the day. Low intensity but do try to add in 1-2 minute long bursts of 10/10 intensity. You’ll very soon find yourself getting to an “acceptable” level of fitness. And make you’re properly hydrated all throughout the day and bring water with you. :)

I'd suggest 120 but yeah anywhere in there. 120 is the same rhythm as Stayin Alive, Another One Bites the Dust, house music in general, and happens to be the same rhythm as chest compressions if you ever need to do CPR

Yeah it's nice when you start to feel your form return while sprinting and actually get moving instead of puttering up the hill or flat. I had some problems this summer and am riding again recently, it was brutal doing my old routes with no fitness.
