My guess: 1 train line along that, but you can take buses to other places too. It actually makes perfect sense that way.

The bus is probably also a feeder system for the train. Train stops are typically further apart than bus stops. If I lived 500 meters from the train, I'd seriously consider taking the bus to get to the train. Many places also give discounts going from bus to train or vice versa.

The manila metro system is a joke, last I checked they were running like 3 trains per hour, if you knew how thick that traffic was you'd realize how pointless that is. If you want to get around manila quickly the only option is a motorcycle because the gridlock is like midtown manhattan, except it's like that 24/7 across the entire city. American suburban tweens whining about how car dependent the US is and how wonderful the rest of the world has it should visit Manila to get a reality check.

I think it's sad. The world's most densely populated city and billions of dollars went into this thing and the whole thing barely carries 1/6th of what a single line of the CDMX metro carries.

EDSA is one of the major arterial roads of metro manila, it's not like they randomly decided to put bus stops on the metro

Also foot crossing any manila arterial road either requires suicidal tendencies or an overpass/underpass, dual-purposing a train station and ped overpass makes perfect sense, a rarity when it comes to government planning in the philippines

The problem with mass transit today. Every one is a lard-ass and can't walk a few blocks. So we get bus routes that have to stop every few hundred feed because fatsos can't waddle any further. And bus commutes take forever.
