Looking for a bike that can handle paved roads and dirt trails. Are there any bikes that perform decently at both? I don't really want to get two bikes because I will often bike through paved roads to get to the dirt trails and then paved roads again when I'm done with the dirt trails. I can't just swap bikes out once the terrain changes so I'm looking for a hybrid and I accept that a hybrid will be worse than a specialized bike on their respective terrains.

The dirt trails I ride on have things like hard clay, root systems sticking up out of the ground, fallen logs I have to pick up my bike to get over, soft sand, mud, etc. The paved roads are well, just paved roads.

I'm willing to spend $1,000. Is there anything good at this price point or do I need to go higher?
