>>1858813As much as I like hollowtech, square taper has undeniable advantages, like high axial tolerance of the bottom bracket threads, better bearing life, lower production cost and intermanufacturer compatibility, and nothing about it is "obsolete" or "deadly", especially it you remember that before that we had one piece cranks and cotter pin cranks, those were genuinely terrible. Genuinely heavy, weak, in need of constant adjustment, constantly shifting and bending. I think many oldfags confuse cotter pin and square taper when they say all the usual shit.
