I'm not an /n/fag myself (am a tourist), but I respect some of your opinions, and respect all of them a hell of a lot more than I respect modern cage manufacturers.
I have to work, but I live in the country.
There is no alternative to a car here - I cannot bicycle 50km a day one-way, and there is no bus (not a fan of pub(l)ic transportation, was forced to use it for a few years, never again.)

What is the most /n/ cage, anons?

Not sure what your problem is with modern cars, the modern cars are fuel efficient and a lot more safe than older cars. Sure it is nice to drive older car with minimal engine management shit but you can't have everything.

Herin lies the problem. Crash safety standards have massively increased the average size and weight of cars. And then it's compounded by people wanting bigger cars because all the cars are bigger.
Then it's compounded again by the dominance of SUVs and Crossovers whereas wagons used to be a more popular kind of family car.

You can crash a modern car and are less likely to get fucked up or die but having bigger heavier cars with worse visibility on the road makes it more dangerous for everyone else, cyclists, and pedestrians.

Plus the added size and weight pretty much entirely negates the increase in efficiency from modern engines and aerodynamics.

Similiar issue to modern headlights. Blinding. Safe for me but not for thee.

though if you have the stomach for it, motorcycle (or even electric, highway-rated motorcycle) will kill even that in fuel/energy efficiency

Safety isn't everything, and in a funny way, by aiming for "muh optimal safety" you end up making it more unsafe in the long run.
It's also just fucking unsustainable, they look like trash, and they render you completely dependent on the globohomo (almost all cars do, but at least I can machine a new cylinder for a Model T - I can't create a semiconductor or lithium cell for a Tesla.)

Also, completely soulless / boring to ride, very unsustainable, the very definition of "maximalism" and "consoomerism" along with all their respective faults.

It's just better in every way.
The modern car is designed for the soft consoomer in mind - the modern dweller of the first-world, without any sort of useful skills or any self-worth, in the sense of valuing the enjoyability of their surroundings.

They just want a sterile tool for getting from A to B - which I would respect, if not for the fact that THEY ALSO WANT TO BE FUCKING ENTERTAINED BY IT, *AND* they salivate over how cool their soulless sterile blob is.

It's one thing to have no choice or variety and be content with that. (Soviet Union, Commie China, North Korea, India, Pakistan.)

You just don't see European cars on the Canadian market because Europe uses a different set of safety standards than North America, so converting a car to be legal to import to Canada is a massive barrier to actual free trade.
I've been telling all my fellow Canadians, regarding the "Buy America" trade fight with the US, that the correct political response to US fuckery is to go, "Fine, we'll just accept European safety standards as equivalent to North American," and watch the US lose their absolute fucking mind.

look up CARB. This is a US thing but companies can get penalized on emissions I guess when the milage does not match the expected milage for a car of a similar size. An example would be a sedan gets 30 mpg, a pickup truck of a similar size would get 25 mpg for example. Now this is unacceptable as the footprints are the same size, but one is worse. This is a long dead meme.
Had a 20 years old toyota yaris with 105hp and it took around 6l/100km.
Girlfriends brand new Ford fiesta with around 90hp uses 6.5l.
Really good modern fuel efficient hatchbacks are at most 10% more efficient than cars from the 90s.
The thing is you need a specific amount of energy to get a weight from point A to point B. Combustion engines already are at the pinnacle of efficency.

Though if we allow hybrids into the comparison, then you really do see fuel/energy efficiency improving. While they did exist ages ago, it's just gotten better over time with lighter batteries.

The weight increase is not huge for a economy saloon or a hatchback, also many new cars nowadays are hybrids and come with features like stop start, not having to idle in a city can mean huge fuel savings ALSO new cars are more fuel efficient but if the person driving does not care about it and choses to ignore all those features then that is not a fault of a car. My old 1994 honda civic manual was damn efficient, because it was slow, had no power steering, ac was was non existant and there was no sport mode like in every new economy class car in 2022.

If you think that good transit access is only downtown, it shows that you're an outsider. Plenty of good neighborhoods with great transit access outside the core. My neighborhood has GO, Streetcar & Subway access and is quite quiet. Most, if not all of the dwellings are owned by families that are raising their children. Duplexes, apartments, single family housing are all options. At the end of the day though, you should live in a place that makes you happy. You love the country life, fuck what others think. I just want more transportation options in the GTA. If you want a Jeep or Fiat, there's a couple of stores in Vaughan and Brampton that sell em. Don't know how far of a drive that is for you, but it's there.

There is literally no public transportation here.

I'm not here to shit on bicycles, I love cycling.

I am just explaining that if I want to live 'till the end of the year, I won't ride a bicycle, because I absolutely fucking *will* get obliterated on the highways here, because people *do* go 150km/h on a road with a limit of 80km/h.
And they DO crash all the time, especially in the winter.

Kid just got fucking obliterated on the local road by a truck, 'cause it was raining and a little dark.
I'm not taking that gamble.
