I forgot to reply to the first poster. Most people I ride with do this, just unclip one foot, lean over slightly, and turn your body/bike system into a tripod with two wheels and one foot touching the ground. Very stable and ready to rumble when it's time to roll out. Some guys sit on their top tube, I used to do that when I rode fat tubed carbon bikes but now I just ride steel, the skinny round top tubes of those frames are not that comfortable. Just do whatever feels good and keeps you from falling over I guess.

my lock is a coiled cable with combination lock "gift ribbon". its lightweight, there's not a lot of theft in my city, and my old bike only looks cool to other bike guys, it's too weird to appeal to theives.

I made my own patch kit by cutting up an old tube and got a bottle of rubber cement for car tires. It works a well as anything, and when I get a flat I just change my tube right there and patch it when I get back anyways, so the extra space doesn't matter.

I lube my chain with motor oil because I've got a bunch and it seems to work well enough.

I don't use a bike specific grease for my wheel hubs and bottom bracket, I just use a white lithium grease.

I have no desire to ride on bike paths or on "rail trails". I ride on the road, preferably in the country. I don't want to gravel grind and I don't bookend a ride with food and beer.

Sometimes when I talk to gravelbois it's like that monty python skit where they say biking is mostly about making sandwiches. I'm happy they're happy and riding bikes but it's not for me.

I unabashedly love riding in the road, on my 25mm Contis pumped up to 100 psi.

As much as people don't want to admit it.....enduro fs emtbs are the best vehicles for navigating urban environments. I lo e pulling in front of roadies into the wind at 14mph and sit at 15 and they try to overtake because they think its a 15mph limited bike so they try to overtake and I wheelie off I to the distance at 30mph
