I'm from burgerland and even I dont understand the logic behind this. Also I highly recommend a helmet when commuting on just one wheel, but thats up to you.

So that aside, let me clarify further. Just 4 deaths on OneWheel products compared to a few hundred cyclist deaths per year yet no bicycle recall or strong recommendation from CPSC to cease.

I havent noticed a whole lot of helmetless OneWheel riders. Not that I've been keeping track, but the smattering of youtube vids I've seen has them helmeted even when the camera person is filming other OneWheelers.

The logic is that the CPSC does not have jurisdiction over cars, airplaines, battleships, or your daily schizo pills. There are different regulatory agencies for different kinds of things. I just made that assumption because I assumed that they were more of a cloutchasing (if that is the right term) type of transportation. I just seemed to me like someone who would ride that would not wear a helmet.

Because people falling off a skateboard is rider error.

People falling off a OneWheel because the front gyroscope failed and didn't register a stop signal is a design or manufacturing defect subject to products liability claims.

Cars get recalled for safety issues (even without any deaths caused by the issue in question) all the time. There's no point treating this thing any different. If it has a dangerous manufacturing defect/ glaring design flaw, the manufacturer may need to fix that, and hopefully learn to build it right rightaway.

People think that because they have anonymity they have the power to act in the most intolerable ways they wish, that they can engage in extreme hedonism and rudeness.
