Flightless newfag here. Is there really no way around getting air sickness on a long flight? I start to get nauseous in the car if I don't look out the window for a few minutes, so I already know it's going to be a problem if I ever fly anywhere.

You’d be surprised. I used to get car sick frequently, and I still do on occasion but I’m a passenger far less often so hard to say how it affects me now. Possibly I’m well aware now how bad trying to read triggers it and have been avoiding that. Anyways I’ve never had a problem with any other kind of motion sickness- planes are no issue, neither are boats. Only some VR experiences are disorienting after a while but I tolerate most pretty well.

Honestly, I haven't been airsick since I was a kid. Unless you're in a storm you should probably be fine as long as you know what to expect from flight.
I get nauseous if I don't look out the window in a car too, but planes are a completely different ballgame (though I would recommend looking out the window).

well anon if you plane is shaking that hard to get equilavent of car sickness... well it will be over soon at the very least.

I too do get car sick but it never been unmanagable, but never got anything on a plane ever. I guess different mechanics are at play. but honestly people I know who had problems got earplugs, wore a mask (to block "cabin air" more than the cough) and doze off as soon as they are seated.
