>>1869776I live in a modern suburban neighborhood.
The neighborhood itself is super walkable and safe to bike in. I will always walk to bike to friends' houses.
There's a grocery store as well as a few restaurants and other stores at the edge of the neighborhood. I can bike over there to get a few groceries or grab takeout.
But that's the extent of the area I would say is safe to walk or bike.
Once you leave the neighborhood, its all 45-55 mph roads, no shoulder, and a bunch of stroads.
While I could ride my bike to the city center, it's only about 6 miles. I would most certainly get killed trying to do so.
The city itself is walkable and has bike lanes on a few roads, but nowhere near enough.
