these 90s shitboxes are tanks trust me itl clean up and be good as new im doing my first old bike resto rn too and its easier than i was expecting
youtube tutorial how to dismantle a componant order whatever tools you need (dont overpay for fancy stuff like parktool just get stuff from aliexpress or second hand) and work your way through the bike till the whole thing is in pieces
give everything a thourough clean (tutorials for that if needed) relube reassemble
some stuff might need replacing entirely like cables tyres or broken plastics like shifters
shel be good as new and youl either have a sweet bike or you can flip it for a nice profit and repeat
